As promised, images from yesterday's meetup. At some point during the day I really started to get my head around the SLR's controls and am starting to feel much happier with it.

The downside however to hanging out with a crowd of photogeeks is that your mental shopping list grows alarmingly.

Consistently screwed up either the framing or focus on this one.

Probably not until the October one, which is when I should get my life back from the Grindstone. And I'd also feel hideously underequipped with my little iXus 330.

And due to the recent Financial FuckUp™, I won't be getting a dSLR for some considerable time, or even buying a mates' F10 (which would otherwise have been pretty likely).

I think it was about 50% SLR users and the rest compacts/sub-SLRs - although most of the SLR users had a compact on their belt too.

Now, that's traditional.

I suppose I could bring my old EOS-1000N out of retirement for the ride, too ... although it does usually mean using quite a lot of film. I think I need more practice composing shots, for which being digital is a definite advantage.

All my deer pics from yesterday are now available at: http://gene.sentinel3.phase.org/files/fullsize/thumbnailer.php?file=/deer

Files may be used and/or printed by anyone for non-commercial use.

Note: very large images, fairly slow link.
