Today I have been to Evans Cycles, looked at foldy bikes, folded, unfolded and sat on many, ridden one, proclaimed it to be a twitchy bastard, and decided "sod it, I'll just get one of the hardframes down here".

The plus side is that this costs nowt, and that I have discovered that my body still likes being on a bike, even in the middle of London, but is very specific as to the sort of bike it wants.

Therefore I shall now be tidying the flat With Extreme Prejudice and generally chucking out stuff that I don't use (not going to piss about with freecycle this time, too many timewasters). Time to reclaim control of my life, fitness, and finances, and no more excuses.

LJCYCLE: electronics

OK, there are a few pieces that are useful enough to pass on rather than chuck out. Or they might just get taken to work.

In approximately descending order of usefulness:

Netgear PS101 print server (size of a matchbox, plugs into a printer's parallel port, stick mains and ethernet on it and it's a network printer). Fiver, rest free.
Phillips fuck-knows-which webcam (PCA646 possibly?), not mac-compatible.
Fairly large "cambridge soundworks" PC speakers + mains adapter.
Two USB flashcard readers.
USB wireless mouse.
Two ADSL filters.
Analog mains timer switch.
Bunch of old phono/audio cables.

Everything except the speakers are small enough for me to stick in a rucksack to meet people somewhere - but I want rid of this PDQ.

jhg: I do appear to have that sodastream....

That's what LJcycle is for ... [grin]

See update. You still got that tablet BTW?

'fraid so - using it right now, in fact - planning to upgrade as soon as I get cash-flow sorted out, though, if you're wanting it back?

If there are no other takers, I'm willing to give a home to the webcam. No real need for the rest of the gear, I'm afraid (unless you've got about 30-40ft of speaker cable lying around! [grin])

Feel free to hold on to the tablet for at least a couple weeks if it's getting actively used; I won't need it until I've got this place sorted. And you're welcome to the cam, although I can only presume it still works.

Heh - since I've had the use of it, I've barely touched the mouse! Fortunately, the cheque from the council should help towards getting one of my very own! Although still having trouble over whether to get a Graphire like this one, or shift up to the Intuos. The Graphires do seem slightly sturdier, though - not sure whether the Intuous has the same hard cover over the drawing surface - the one at work definitely seems more vulnerable.

How's chavcycle work around your area? (Put useless crap outside, it vanishes.)

They'd probably try and smoke it around here.

Is the mouse optical? I've been looking for a cheap wireless for my Macbook when it's in windows mode. I could pay postage if you'd be willing to send it Cambridge-wards.

It is, and the tracking's quite good. It's the type where you stick the receiver in the USB port. Pays to keep it fed with rechargables though, as I recall.

Sounds ideal, I still have a ready collection of rechargables from my (now defunct and/or stolen) remote keyboard and camera.

If nobody more convenient wishes to collect, would you mind posting or handing it to the next Cambridge person you see?

USB card readers? I'm interested in these because they go well with the camera collection (particularly with Canons which are nice cameras but they refuse to make one that does umass). Where do you work? I can likely meet you after work this week.

I work at High Street Kensington (well, Kensington Square), frequently until 6:30/7 ...

I shall call/email and pop by sometime this week then!

I really should LJcycle stuff here too ...

You need to stop working so late. 10 hours at the office cannot be good for you.

Speakers would probably be of use to me, as I no longer have the computer next to the hifi. How big is 'fairly large', relative to common household objects? :)

About a foot tall IIRC

Gosh :) I may be heading south in the car at some point tomorrow, if so I'll give you a shout and see if you're about.

Sure. PSU might mean that it's non-trivial to post but I'm sure we can meet somewhere.
