The fact that you're thinking about rejigging your CV? Or the fact that you refer to it as "refactoring"?

Hmmm... refactoring.

I think I know what that means in coding terms - your own definition would be useful - but applying this to a CV is a bit dubious. Perhaps I could offer a few suggestions:

  • Reordering the elements;
  • Renaming the variables (changing the euphemisms);
  • Using a different naming convention (different buzwords for a different sector);
  • Revising the facts;
  • Removing the facts;
  • Replacing the facts;
  • Reinventing the facts;
  • Reappraising which facts are verifiably true, and which non-facts are uncheckable.

I am sure that other readers will be equally helpful (FSO 'helpful' originating in Redmond). But the best advice is: if you're using words like 'refactor' in another namespace (like, say, your private life) then maybe a career break is in order.
