Am looking at 3G (mobile) broadband options. Are there any you'd recommend or avoid?
I have 3's £10/month deal. It's good in Central London, but coverage is still poor elsewhere. In Suffolk at the weekend, I couldn't get enough reception to make it practical to use the Internet at all, and it's painfully slow even as near to London as Worcester Park.
I was in a pub full of experts on this subject last night. I was told to buy a 3 PAYG sim card and then sign up to their £5 per month 'all you can eat' data package. The guy who recommended this personally used over 5GB in January, so 'unlimited' would appear to be a fairly accurate description in this case.
As mentioned above, their out of London coverage is suboptimal. However, they are peered with Orange in some fashion for 2G, so you can apparently still make calls and use GPRS or whatever.
