Not quite right yet Mar. 28th, 2006 01:43 pm
Got up, though I was OK.
Went to work, greeted new starter, did intros, set everything up. Did Management.
Got leave approved.
Felt worse, got a headache, went home.
Need to be well again.

Damnit Mar. 27th, 2006 09:00 am
Woke up today and realised PDQ that I wasn't going anywhere. Head felt like someone had set it in concrete and then worked the rest of me over with a crowbar, so I stayed in bed for another couple of hours. Called in sick, which I nearly failed to do as my voice copped out; I think it dropped three octaves during the call.

I really hate headcolds.

Not feeling so groggy right now but I know perfectly well it'll hit me if I start trying to do anything particularly active. Might just about manage to handle the rest of the move paperwork today; being ill tomorrow isn't an option as I have a new starter joining.

Fun cold this one Sep. 30th, 2005 11:28 am
Lets you feel fine - and thus like a complete slacker - when you sit watching TV, and then bloody awful when you try and move or think too hard.

Still, when I did get up for some tea, I found a return visitor:

Still cold-ridden; don't think I'll be getting any work done today (nose won't stop running long enough, for a start).

New Pratchett out tomorrow, by the looks of it.

Urgh Sep. 29th, 2005 12:13 pm
1) Have a cold. Feel generally slow and "urgh".
2) Just noticed (and fixed) a rather daft set of bugs in my calendar that was failing to display various events, including the ingenious feature that it would only import one untimed events for any given day from iCal. Among other things, this cause me to fail to spot [info]nisaba's party the other day - for which, apologies.
3) Will be visiting parents in Cambs this w/end; apologies and best wishes to [info]djm4 for his outing. (Not a calendar bug, more a "catch them while they're in the country" issue this time).

Rule 1: do not cause your customer to vomit Sep. 22nd, 2005 01:53 pm
Just been in two shops with malfunctioning halogen lighbulbs, flickering in that very special way that attempt to make me pass out and/or vomit.

I'm wondering how widely shared this reaction is...

Finally... Aug. 23rd, 2005 10:22 am
Actually some *medical* improvement today, rather than "I *think* I feel a bit better".

"There's a satanic librarian at the door for you" - this *has* to be someone's career objective ;)

Stomach bug's not clearing up, so it's the Doctor's for me tomorrow. Plans for the week may have to be made once I've found out what's up.

Frankly I suspect people must be getting somewhat bored of this journal, but others say I don't post enough.

So: today. Felt much better first thing (slept in slightly). Managed about 3 hours paid work all in, realised I didn't have the concentration to keep on with it, went back to prodding the calendar.

Heatstroke seems to have morphed into a stomach bug - I seem to have this knack of getting illnesses in pairs - and I'm feeling somewhat wiped out and asocial.

Should probably get some more paid hours in this weekend, but might head up to Cambs tomorrow instead to see the parents briefly.

Hope I get over this soon, it's bloody boring.

Self-indulgent post maybe, but I've now got my phone's calendar to automatically update the one on my website :)

Now to stop getting flu, heatstroke and the rest and get to more of the listed events ;)

Feeling far better today - very slight headache but I get those in the morning anyway. Thanks to all for comments & concern.

Not a great 24 hours Aug. 17th, 2005 07:45 pm
Heatstroke yesterday, shivering fit last night, disturbed sleep followed by throwing up this morning, headache, exhaustion and lack of appetite today. Going to work may have been overdoing it.

And yesterday morning was so promising...

Just what I needed Sep. 29th, 2004 11:10 am
I appear to have flu. Just what I needed when I wanted to rework my CV and start processing job specs :/

And in terms of content... Jul. 10th, 2004 09:19 pm
Been having troubles with the IBS this week - flaring up quite badly over the last few days - but still able to get out on Friday night, both to the PL ([info]spikeylady looks ever more gorgeous each time I see her) and then - briefly - to B-Movie. Left to get the Last Tube Home (when's Ken going to start Friday night running then?).

Quite tired that night but still enjoyed - and benefitted from - the time out.

Went to Second Saturday today - played Strange Synergy again, and San Juan - and was introduced to the concept of Knightmare Chess. Which looks insane. FWIW Second Saturday may not be on the regular date next month. Updates will be available on an announcements list I've set up. That mailman server looks like it's going to come in useful.

Tired again now, and a bit gut-sore, but content.

Refusing to be beaten Apr. 16th, 2004 01:39 pm
Right:

Being ill in Whitby (in good company) has to beat being ill and alone in Leytonstone. Besides which even if I can't do the events, it's a bloody nice place.

Parents have agreed to post car keys to me so I don't have to pick it up quite so soon; in effect I can collect it any time before... well, probably Friday, as that's when the events start, but hopefully before then.

Driving, done carefully, is probably going to be less tiring than taking the (s)train anyway (I'll find out for sure when I collect the car) - and as it's just karen and I, and we don't have to be at the cottage for any specific time of day or pick anyone up, so can travel with greater ease.

I also have 4 days between now and Weds on which I don't have to even *think* about work, or getting up in time for it.

Karen - can you pick up some B-vitamin supplements for me? And in less immediately relevant news, remind me a) that that car floods easily and b) to mind the handbrake on it (the car's not unsafe, just lazy ;)

This will happen. We both need it.
