Being unemployed, sucks.

Too much uncertainty, too little pattern, nothing to break up the days or even show the time of day. Whatever the previous plans, I just can't enjoy myself right now; I need to get a job, get working, know where I am.

Got another call from a recruiter. I suspect that, if all else fails, getting another STB-dev job won't be too tricky, but I really want to move on. But I'm not fully qualified for these other jobs; I'm sure I can do them, but...

Anyway... built up a new PC (Athlon 1.1GHz) from an upgrade kit and the remains of the old box; cleared out the cupboard too and I now have a *lot* of spare bits (about 3-4 each of netcards, soundcards, modems, FDDs, HDDs, Mobos, DIMMS, SIMMS). I've no idea how much of it *works* though. But, the home network runs, all the software I need's installed, and there's no more half measures... Well, the monitor on the Celeron's not great, but hell...

Hey, you get that too, huh.
Yeah, it sucks.
What you can do now, though, is to go out and just wander around talking to random people, which is more interesting than it sounds.
Or learn something you've never done and work on it for the same time each day. Heyyy...swap you...Quenya for computery languages...
~ding! of a bright idea~

*nods*
Yeah, once I finish sending my CV in every conceivable direction, I might get some time for my "things to do when you have time" - photography, sketching (should I admit that to you? ;), Irish...

BTW, what's Quenya?

And if you're really bored, do feel free to drop by for a coffee and an arm - and feel free to borrow some "teach yourself some random computer language" books.

I shall indeed pop by for tea and arm, probably sometime around Friday :)
