Not bad, for a first attempt.

Wow, that's really good. It looks fantastic.

My only thought is that the line of the hills continues through the tree on the left, that looks a bit odd to me.

But the sky in particular is gorgeous.

It does? *squint*

Ah, you've obviously got a better monitor than me ;) The LCD on the vaio, on which I did the work, is about as good as I've seen on a lappy, but still not ideal; the old gateway beast on the ME box is just crap, and I can *just* see the lines you're referring to on the iiyama on the linux box.

And I'm not going to buy a new monitor. Nor a better digicam. Really.

Better monitor? I'm looking at it on a dodgy 14 inch monitor that's at least five years old that's been dragged here all the way from Australia...

And of course you're not to buy any new comsumer electrical equipment, I believe you, really.

Ok, better eyes then ;)

I'm not trying to make excuses for it (no, honest), just noting that I might find it tricky to fix.

And I've already spent far too much this month on electronics, books and software.

She's right, it does, but apart from that it's bloody well done.
And...
:o !!!
Can I have that absolutely incredible tower picture that comes up in thumbnail on the left of the altered version? - I think Orlando Bloom's going to have to make do with *half* my desktop...

What... displace Orlando Bloom? That just seems... wrong.
But sure, if you want to slap that image on your desktop, you're welcome.

(and if anyone can tell me for certain which cathedral that is, please do! The sky, on the other hand, was outside my flat the other day...)

Not displace him! I shall ask politely if he wouldn't mind stepping a few inches to his left and possibly shrinking so i can tile him with a few other things. Mmm...photoshop...

It has a lovely ethereal feel to it, which is really nice, especially the reflection of the building in the water that its standing in.

I'm impressed.

Erm... it's not. There's just a balcony-type ledge half-way up it, and it has more floors that you'd logically expect.

Ah. Woops.
Thats what I get for looking at the picture insufficiently closely and then commenting on it. I think that the edging around the building between the second and third floors looked like it was where the building hit the ground, and then I misinterpereted the rest of the groud detail.

I'll just go sit over here and shut up.

Mind you, it is still an impressive looking image
