Update 1308 Every get the urge to give yourself a sharp kick in the ass until you stop moping?

You may know that I've long believed the legal institution of marriage to be a Bad Thing. Marriage and the courts should get a divorce - there's no need for there to be a State-Approved Relationship rubber stamp, and the statute books should be rewritten to remove all mention of it. Then anyone can get married, in any style they like, without having to petition for new changes in the law.

I'll agree with that whole-heartedly. I believe that the way life-long, monogamous marriages are enshrined in law codifies religious intolerance and limits personal freedom, and as such is a violation of our human rights.

Of course, had I realised that at the time, I'd have probably not got married and thus not been able to be with the girl I then loved - so either way I was going to end up shafted by the law.

I think that green-card marriage is justified, so long as you don't come to believe in the legal institution of marriage, and so long as you're sufficently wary of its dangers...

You forgot to log me out, didn't you?
