Light at the end of the tunnel?

Almost finished the Bloody Huge Project at work, and may manage a somewhat saner workload shortly. Thank [deity/profanity of choice]...

On that note, keep an eye out for the next Mind Gym book in the shops (and out of curiosity, have any of you dealt with the company / read the book in the past?)

Longer term, I need to move closer to work. The downside of this is that work is in the expensive heart of West London (it's on Kensington Square), which means that "near" involves a lot of the expensive side of Zone 2. Ideally I'm looking for a 30-minute commute door-to-door, and my calculations on a tube map seem to suggest this draws a boundary line on the tube map from Ealing Broadway down to Richmond, Wimbledon, Clapham, Brixton, Waterloo, Bermondsey, Bank.

Can anyone comment on good places to live in that arc? What's the travel like? Paying a bit more to live further in may be worth it if it helps me get my work done, as bonus percentages are insane at TMG. In the first instance I'm looking for a small 1-bed (but not studio) flat (on the basis that I don't need to spend much time at home, living in London), but I'm open to advice. Living nearer to people I know would be a plus, of course. Oh, and I'd prefer to be on the tube to mainline (down to frequency of service, because I'm no good at catching trains on schedule).

Also, if anyone has any outstanding queries to me, please remind me and I'll try and catch up.

TFL seem to have *finally* brought the real-time map back, now including engineering work.
