I have...

Cold lunch and a stock of bottled water from ASDA
Stress-induced backache
No hot water
Lukewarm and possibly contaminated cold water

Plus, Eurolet aren't answering the phone. Answerphone first three times, then just a failure to pick up.

Wondering if I can/should try and fix this myself. I *assume* it's just a jammed thermostat that can be replaced.

*goes to poke things*
Yes, the off-peak thermostat appears jammed - doesn't click as I rotate it.
The peak one *does* click.

So, if I can get a new thermostat, I can fix the problem. The question remains if a) I should and b) the overheat will have done any damage to the system.

11:40 - back to answerphone

13:10 - call from EuroLet - they can't send anyone yet because the company they use are in Stanstead and are snowed in. Fortunately it appears I can make it work from the 24-hour supply fairly safely.

If it helps, we have soup we can feed you. I don't suppose ti does, though.

As for Eurolet - they're probably hiding from our heating problems, as the plumber who came to deal with it, um, broke it further...

hope it gets sorted out soon, anyway.

Offer muchly appreciated, but food isn't too badly affected.
If it *is* just the off-peak, I can probably run the system on the other supply and get back to normal until they can fix it. I suspect EuroLet have all taken the day off due to that white stuff out there, and that their answerphone is just full.

What happened to your heating then? You guys OK over there?

food: yeah, I thought you'd probably say that, just checking.

heating: well, when we moved in there was a valve that didn;t work (along with about a milolion other things wrong), so a guy came out to fix it, and changed the wrong valve. So now, we don't really have that much control over the heating. It's not a major thing, but it's something that takes up plumber time, electrician time, and eurolet fear :)
