Just tidied my flat - well, lounge and bedroom at least - cleared the floors, put all the clothes away, folded the towels, and hoovered.

Getting up the motivation to do this is so often beyond me. I've got it done this time because I hate the place being a mess for people to come in and work - ie the plumber. I'm not sure what it means that I can't get this done for friends to visit. Do I worry more what strangers think than friends?

Or have I just finally got it done because I'm feeling so much better right now?

I spent most of today in G&P, playing Looney Labs games with the staff, LL rep, Alex' girlfriend Jo, and a few customers (less than we might have hoped). I find I can chat with customers no problem, and could now quite happily work in a shop situation without getting sociophobic.

Or at least in G&P, because the atmosphere there's particularly good.

I don't think I could have done that on a daily basis a while ago. I'm not sure how long ago, but possibly not very. I think I can cope with people far better now.

Oh, and the LL games rock - even if they make my brain hurt. I'll have to get sets of both Aquarius and Chrononauts, and of course play them with someone occasionally.

Today was rather a lot of fun. Next weekend it's Settlers - the board game, expansions, card game, and maybe even Starfarers.
Of course, these games always take rather longer to play than the LL games - a couple of hours or so - so it'll be slightly different.

One thing that happened a few times today were that customers said something like "sorry to interrupt your game, but I want to buy something". I think G&P needs big signs saying "Games demonstration - please ask for info or help". Or t-shirts with that on the back.

I think I might spend quite a few Sundays in there - it's a good chance to play games, and hopefully vaguely helpful too.

Yay *applause* you tidied! ;)
I wouldn't worry that you only tidy up for people who come to mend things and not for friends. This probably means that you trust your friends to step over stuff without breaking it and to think you're fabulous no matter how messy your house is, and also that you expect mending the boiler to need lots of space for the bloke mending it to work in. These are entirely reasonable expectations. :)

Glad you enjoyed the games!

That there weren't many customers isn't necessarily a problem from my point of view; it did mean that we got to play more than we might have, and yet there are still many more games we could have played. Frex, I'm quite fond of Gnostica, a territory control/war game played on a fluid landscape of tarot cards, though you can't realistically play it in anything less than an hour, more with inexperienced players.

Ooooooohhh!

I've always wanted to play Icehouse, but never found anyone with the time / a set...

I'm sure valkyriekaren can get you a set if they can source them, as for providing time, the nearest they sell is going to be chrononauts ;)
