Having had a good look at properties in Leyton etc, and comparing them with what's on offer in Cambridge, they seem to be comparable. Except of course that I have a 27% pay boost, and two people paying the rent, in London.

£230-240pw seems to be the going rate for a 3-bed house in Leytonstone - which is the most we'll need. ("We" is myself and valkyriekaren, for anyone who hadn't figured...)
See: http://www.findaproperty.co.uk/area0871.html (and thanks to casparian for that site)

Additionally, the websites for E10-E11 seem to suggest fairly decent availability - so, hopefully, finding a place to live shouldn't be a particularly tricky part of the moving process.

Although it may be neccessary to be in-situ to have a fast enough turn-around time to *get* a place. I may need to take one of those crashspace offers up for this.

Boss even suggested I could consider buying, but I think not just yet ;)

Oh yes. I think you can count on me to ignore them with the dedication of a taxi driver.

Except possibly to photograph a few to illustrate a "how not to do it" article on UKC.

Yay! More neighbours! I live on the Stratford/Leytonstone boundary.

230-240 a week sounds correct for a 3 bed place around here.

You'd want to view a number of places before committing - some places around here are really dumpy, but there are many gems out there.

Don't buy - prices are probably about to rebound downwards after going up more than 50% in the last year (no, really!!) so they must surely be overpriced now.

I think you'll both like Leytonstone. :o)
