Damnit - Grin with cat attached

Eurolet are claiming that my notice period is a) 2 months and b) takes place from the first of the month. |
This is marginally annoying, but having finally managed to decode my contract, has been the case all along. For me to have caught last month's date would have required writing the notice letter pretty much on the day I made the decision to go, and probably wasn't practical.
I can ask them to remarket it earlier - in fact I think I will - but of course that'll cost me extra.
Paying two sets of rent for more than about a month doesn't seem the best idea I've ever had (I can afford it but I'd rather not waste the cash). The options, however, don't look all that great either. Commuting will cost me 80-90 quid a week, and completely knacker me. And frankly I'd like to move ASAP anyway.
The best laid plans...
Aside: This would also appear to be the (annual) day that the world factionalises into hot-weather people and cold-weather people.
Aside 2: When we finally get our new place there will be a warming party. And I shall be laying on much alcohol, oh yes. In fact, while not wishing to encourage anyone to do anything to damage said pad, I may be forced to purchase a simulacrum simian to watch over said beverages.
