Apparently, "arguments about civil liberties are outdated", as is the Geneva Convention on Asylum Seekers.

Oh, and apparently a fair chunk of the money to "rebuild" Iraq is being obtained by cancelling aid to middle america:

That's silly.

Obviously treaties and agreements will sometimes need to change due to the political climate, but there's no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

What are the Lib-Dems opinions of ID cards? I haven't heard anything from them on this issue yet. I'm assuming they are against it.

Vintage Blair. I think that he knows that this is potentially the Poll Tax with nobs on, so he's hoping to rein back on it, at least until after the next election, while waiting for his racist scare tactics to take effect. All this volkswanderung rhetoric would be laughable if it wasn't so wicked.

As for civil rights being irrelevant in the treatment of asylum seekers, that's just shameful.

At least YOUR national leaders are still questioned by the press. Be nice if some of that happened here in America...

I've increasingly harsh Op-Ed pieces about Bush & co in the last few weeks, so I'd assumed the US press had now woken up and started prodding. Oh well. :(

Can we lend you Jeremy Paxman for a bit? I'd so love to see him really grilling Rumsfeld, Rice or Cheney...
