GENDER RECOGNITION BILL - FIRST READING Dec. 2nd, 2003 10:09 am
The Gender Recognition Bill received its first reading in the House of Lords yesterday and is published today.

The purpose of the Bill is to give transsexual people legal recognition in their acquired gender ensuring that, for the first time, transsexual people are afforded all the rights and responsibilities appropriate to that gender.
