*gibber* Just had to phone my French Bank to arrange to close my account - like any operation in France it comes with Free Added Bureaucracy. Plus the fact I've not spoken any substantial amount of French in about 2 years, so I think I did fairly well. Now to find random pieces of paper from my and my parents' accounts. | ||
Wow, me impressed. I always found it difficult to understand spoken French over the telephone.
why did you go to the bother of closing it, as a matter of interest ? (if there's a good reason why one should, i'd like to know, so that i can close mine too. although, in the current economic climate, it'd be just my luck for me to do that, and then my company would go bust and i'd end up getting a job in france within a couple of months, or something).

Well, I've not closed it yet - I still have to find a way to send a "Registered delivery" letter with the French Postal service from here. CIC (the french bank) still have my (very) old address, and Thephonehouse (french variant of Carphone Warehouse) are still apparently taking money out of it on a monthly basis (Cancelling my France Telecom mobile account didn't seem to acheive this).
Somehow I need to protect, and get control of, the remaining money in it.
At this rate it's going to be a weekend in Paris to tackle it.

ah, right. thankfully mine hasn't got any troublesome debits on it.

ooh, how dreadful ;-) hohum, looks like i should be going to paris for a couple of days early-ish next month, so i'm not too envious (unlike normal).
