LJ's borked again then? Ah well, text editor it is...|
Long day today - considerably better health than last weekend so I headed off to the gym for an induction / assessment - all fairly easy stuff, and *most* of my major muscle groups still seem to work (stomach muscles have wandered off somewhere though). Not aching *too* much yet, but we'll see what the morning brings.
Then grabbed a lunch of pie and mash (not particulary enthralling) from the Ale and Pie pub on TCR, where I encountered the sort of american tourist that makes you want to nuke the entire nation. "Hi, we're from the states, have a button". Yes, I GUESSED.
Then dropped into the new cheap barbers for a quick trim (it looks functionally identical to how it did before, but for 6 quid who cares?) and then browsed round a few mobile phone shops to look at the Treo 600. ciphergoth (or anyone else owning one): can I get an SSH client on those phones? How has yours been, apart from the flipped lid?
If I get one of these I'll get rid of my (now effectively unused) Handspring Visor Deluxe, fold-out Targus keyboard, and Nokia 7210 and data cable. Anyone want any of these for an appropriate price?
Then on to the escheresque Porterhouse pub at Covent Garden to drink the first alcohol I've had in 3 or four months (a Belgian apple beer, very nice actually), chat with geeks and goths, and consume an uberburger of doom. Very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
Then home, to find that one of my apple donuts had mysteriously mutated into a custard one... ?
Bed fairly soon, I'm worn out.
I have a Treo 180. The most irritating thing about it is that it has a tendency to randomly decide that it doesn't actually have signal. Or to crash in such a way that it *claims* still to have signal, but doesn't actually send or receive anything (I usually notice this when I go to send a text, & the damn thing hangs for a bit then tells me it can't be sent. Turning wireless mode off & on again usually fixes it). Or, occasionally, to crash altogether for a bit (more accurately: to hang for a few minutes. Usually rights itself, but is damn annoying in the middle of trying to do something).
These problems are all related to its phone-functions (SMS, phone calls, the web browser thing) - it's never crashed while running any of the Palm stuff.
I believe that mstevens
has had some similar problems with his. It may be that there's a firmware update or similar available - the ringer on mine has just also died, and the keys are sounding a bit too clicky, so I've finally actually been motivated into sending it to be FIXED.
Having said all that - I am very very fond of mine, as witness continuing to use it despite the wireless issues... (it is getting worse though - if it can't be fixed, I will be returning to my old phone & just using the Treo as a Palm, which will be irritating). It is *great* for text messages, & the keyboard is way more convenient IMO for text entry in general (diary, notes, etc) than Graffiti. Note: you can get a plug-in thingy that allows you to use Graffiti, or another similar system, on the screen, but I've never bothered. It's also convenient having diary & books both available on my phone - because I very nearly always have phone, whereas I didn't always carry my Palm, e.g. when going out for the evening.
