The horror... - Grin with cat attached
... if it would fool the same nervous population again?
Looks like another of my cherished childhood recollections is about to be butchered. One of my first memories is of being a VERY small child (what, 3, maybe 4?) sitting Mom's lap at the kitchen table, watching War of The Worlds on the little Sharp b&w TV on the counter. I had dreams and/or nightmares for YEARS after that about hovering Martian spaceships and deathrays consuming the countryside. :-)
Maybe StrongBad watched it too, and Trogdor is his attempt to express his inner pain. :-)
Hey, come on. Whatever Spielberg does couldn't POSSIBLY be as bad as the original movie. At the very least, it won't be as offensive in the "women are automatically dumb and panicky, while the men are IN CHARGE!" department. Gaw.
Granted, the effects used in the old movie were amazing for their time, but still.
At the worst, this movie will suck terribly, and join the other War Of The Worlds in that category of "really bad, beloved only by those who saw it as kids." Y'know, kind of like the new Star Wars prequels.
