Refusing to be beaten Apr. 16th, 2004 01:39 pm

Being ill in Whitby (in good company) has to beat being ill and alone in Leytonstone. Besides which even if I can't do the events, it's a bloody nice place.

Parents have agreed to post car keys to me so I don't have to pick it up quite so soon; in effect I can collect it any time before... well, probably Friday, as that's when the events start, but hopefully before then.

Driving, done carefully, is probably going to be less tiring than taking the (s)train anyway (I'll find out for sure when I collect the car) - and as it's just karen and I, and we don't have to be at the cottage for any specific time of day or pick anyone up, so can travel with greater ease.

I also have 4 days between now and Weds on which I don't have to even *think* about work, or getting up in time for it.

Karen - can you pick up some B-vitamin supplements for me? And in less immediately relevant news, remind me a) that that car floods easily and b) to mind the handbrake on it (the car's not unsafe, just lazy ;)

This will happen. We both need it.

Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. You may want to get a strong multi-vitamin. B is good, but a nice boost of C wouldn't hurt you at all. :)

I hope you feel better soon.

I've been on VitC since I got this, but didn't know about B B4.

TMI ahead - Just as a warning not too worry about this... you can't overdose on B vitamins, the excess just flushes out of your system... let's just say you will learn not to fear neon greenish yellow. :)

That's not scary, I've seen cybergoths ;)

AFAIK the only vitamins you can overdose on (without eating dozens of pills a day, anyway) are A and D?

OK. The health-food shop's vitamins are heap overpriced (like, over a tenner a bottle? y'what?), but I have you some allegedly revitalising herbal tea, and I'll nip out of work early if I can (shouldn't be a problem as half the office is going down the pub for a leaving do) and get to the Boots down the road for some B-Vits.

Check the labels though. I thought that, and bought TESCO B-vit complex for 99p. The RDA values per tablet were all 100%
Fine you think, but them look at a Holland-and-Barret jar for a fiver and stuff like B-12 has over 1000% High dose stuff.
I think they are even starting to make my memory work a bit better.
So long as i remember to take them ;)

I bought high-dose stuff; it's 200% RDA vitamin C, and like 3000% RDA Vit B1, plus high doses of lots of other B-Vits.

Cool. Was that from Boots?

No, from the pharmacy next to work; it's a good brand though I think, not cheapo stuff (cost over a fiver, so should be good).

I know I am really biased about this but admitting you aren't well enough to do something isn't being beaten.

Having had PVFS I understand the temptation to do as much as you can. Hopefully that will be ok but there is a chance that the illness will last a lot longer / become more debilitating if you don't rest fully now.

All makes sense to me - in fact I'm trying to do as little as I can - I plan to do nothing for a few days, and treat Whitby more as a rest break than a festival. The only exception is the driving, which I'll just have to take as easy as I can, and hope it's worth it to chill out at Whitby.

~hugs~ Glad to read this, love. Take it easy and if you need anything that I can get to you or anything, you know where I am. And, love you, and stuff. :)
