Network Rail staff vote to strike (LUL likely to join in) May. 20th, 2004 12:38 pm
Railway workers have voted to strike in a dispute over pay and pensions.
Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union backed a campaign of industrial action against Network Rail.
About 7,000 signal workers and maintenance staff are set to be involved in the walkout.
The union did not name strike dates immediately. There are fears it could coincide with a separate strike on the London Underground.

Yes, I know. If it happens on Bank Holiday weekend (as was threatened at one point), then it's probably going to cost me about £300 in plane tickets and taxis to get to Millport. Of course, I wholeheartedly support their right to do this - if it didn't inconvenience anyone, there wouldn't be a lot of point, would there?

Oh I'll wholeheartedly support the right to strike, I just don't trust the RMT an inch when it comes to doing so responsibly or for good reason.

...Actually, I've now seen that they're promising not to do that, which is good news for me.
