So the UK and Texas have two things in common: the news media are completely irresponsible, and football (either kind) is taken WAY too seriously.
That's just appalling.
Abusing the referee has historically been part of British football ("Who's the b*****d in the black?" and so on), but it's pretty abhorrent, and certainly should not carry on outside of the ground.
A guy in the workshop here buys The Sun, so I usually have a flick through. They've been really playing this thing up but (not surprisingly) haven't mentioned anything about death threats or indeed about the poor young girl on holiday. After all, it's all just good-natured fun, isn't it?
Thats so screwed up.
It's only a bloody game, and the ref was just doing his job.
Yet another reason to feel ashamed of being English.
At least he's not a paediatrician.
