"Oh I know, I'll just have a go at adding custom posting to PhaseJournal while my food settles. Can't take long..."

That was about 2 hours ago. GTK::List widgets, not greatly aided by the apalling documentation for GTK-PHP, are a right headfuck. Still, I've finally got it working... version svn-34 handles custom posting and saves its own posts to disk (including autosaves*). It can (theoretically) be used with any LJ-compatible site (eg deadjournal) by setting a DEFINE value, although I should tidy that aspect of the code up a bit. Interface is still poor, too - partly due to the nature of the GTK widgets.

Anyway, enough geeking. Decided not to go to redcountess and reddragdiva's meal as my IBS has been flaring up and I'm trying to feed my stomach only what feels just right for it. This evening that was smoked haddock, new potatoes and peas (two of three of which were microwave packs, incredibly convenient) which was delicious - didn't think I'd get that for the effort! And the IBS seems to be calming down a bit, so it might have been a good choice.

Not going to finish the housekeeping I thought I might now; better to get a decent night's sleep to start the week.

Oh and I think I'm free next weekend as valkyriekaren is away - anyone want to do summat?

(* autosaves are in filestore/lj_journals/working if anyone needs to know. Docs will follow - eventually)

Sympathies on the IBS; my digestive system is still not back to normal after the salmonella, and I made the mistake of trying a bit of Diva's steak this evening. I now have the most appalling stomach cramps, and I suspect I am going to find myself constrained to a mostly vegetarian diet until things return to normal.

A little oily fish seems ok, plus the occasional bit of chicken - but for the most part I find myself eating an awful lot of jacket potatoes, plus going through a lot of fruit. Red meat seems to be right off the menu though - the very smell seems to put me off. And I can't handle spices; this evening I settled for some very plain chicken quesadillas with a little cheese and no peppers or spices.

How long have you had IBS? Any idea what triggered it in the first place?

I think I've had it for about 10 years, but it was only properly diagnosed 6 months or so back. My mother had a similar condition in her late teenage years and we never quite managed to identify it. A lot of the symptoms pointed to blood sugar/pressure issues but these were never borne out in tests.

I'm glad you managed to get the IBS to calm down a bit. I hope you feel better soon. *hugs*

As for next weekend, are you going to be at Mat's leaving do?
