Actually I think I do. But since it'll be a 125 I wouldn't lust too much.

Depends on your confidence but a bigger bike is more noticable and has more road presence. I certainly feel safer on mine. People are more likely to cut up a 125 (indeed, riding styles are taught differently for [125cc and less] and bigger bikes).

I'm working on the basis that I'll be transitioning from a pedal-bike, but I'll be happy for all advice on this.

Plus, of course, I'm trying not to spend too much.

Have you got a bike license yet? You can ride a 125 on a provisional license after taking your CBT (one day, 70-80 quid) which is fairly simple. If you want something bigger you have to take a full license. A full DAS (Direct Access) course (if you're over 21 or had your provisional license for 2 years I think it is) can be done in a week (full-time) and cost ~£500, plus you have to take a full test like a car. It can be quite tough.

Personally, especially in London, you want to take as much training as you can afford.

Wanna buy a 125? She's a good bike, but I keep falling off her :(

(Yamaha SR125, slight knee shaped dent in tank should be all fixed proper by time of sale - his insurance are paying - 1996, 1 careful owner and me, starts, runs, stops, very reliable except when sharp corners are also icy.)

I've always wanted a Harley Trike... Same badass image of a big bike, but with more stability and storage...

Oh go on, then we can laugh at you saying CBT until we fall down.

I'm convinced you can tell a lot about someone by their response to those letters ;)
