ADSL modem: response Aug. 13th, 2004 05:07 pm
Netgear have got back to me with the response on the DG824M and non-NAT usage, the response was a one-liner that basically said "No it can't do this and we're not going to fix it".

As such I suspect I'll be getting a new device (probably the DG834 - Netgear's Tech Support may suck, but their device design is leagues ahead of anyone else I've seen*). This leaves me with the 824 simply in a routing/wireless capacity, although if anyone wants to put in a decent offer for it I may part with it. It's idea for anyone who isn't a mad sysadmin wanting to deliberately open up his network to the full threat of unprocted internet access. (PS Karen - the new network design will still put all the Win9x boxen behind a firewall).

*trans: it's shiny. Bite me.

I've got a DG834G and I'm more than happy with it. They do seem quite good at releasing firmware fixes, which is nice.
