From the SANS @RISK newsletter -

Internet Explorer has another critical vulnerability (#1 below) even
when Service Pack 2 of Windows XP is installed. Microsoft is slow to
respond.

So is it worth my downloading this service pack then? I've heard the scare stories about it "altering functionality" ie buggering up all your software, but on the other hand plugging some loopholes ought to be good...???

Well it's got a firewall of sorts in, and hasn't killed my laptop. I don't think most of the problems will affect the average home user.

If you can back up the PC first, however, it would be wise.

Gee, that's a big surprise.

Hah, briefly read this as the bug being that MS is slow to respond, which I'd certainly agree is a problem.
