And when I start reading that, you know I'm far too bored

Are they allowed to do this?

How disappointing. What's wrong with "You are 43% cancer, 23% coronary thrombosis and 17% gangrene"?

I'd rather not be entirely fatal.

That would only make you 83% fatal.

Couldn't see the problem in your page, but I've re-written the pasted HTML to be well-formed.

The worst thing about the Earthsea miniseries is that I won't be able to resist seeing it, given half a chance, and then I will cry :-(

I must confess to not having read the books, but one paragraph of her comments on the director has conviced that I ought to - once I finish the Black Magician trilogy.

Same here - the Earthsea books weren't part of my adolescence, but I now wish they had been. Hollywood is riding a slippery slope by giving these books a Judeo-xianity perspective and by making a film about the Crusades in these times :-/

They're very very good. I do recommend them. I reread them recently, prior to reading some more stuff of hers, and it was fantastic.

a Judeo-xianity perspective

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I first read the trilogy many many years ago (somewhat more than (age-50%)), and I've still got them. How can they do this?

Then why is this miniseries getting made? They couldn't do it without her permission...

Once the rights are sold, she has no further say. Presumably when she did so she was either optimistic that any adaptation would be good, or that none would end up being made.

I see from the cast list that everyone's gone a bit pallid. I seem to recall the people of Earthsea were a little less rosy-cheeked...

Yes, first comes the watching, then comes the crying.

Aye. IIRC Ged/Sparrowhawk was supposed to have the copper-coloured skin typical of people from Gont. The only pale people were the mage-less god-worshippers from Atuan and it's associated isles.

How's that for dredging things from unknown memory?
