"trains stopping short of central croydon. Apparently an incident, but no idea if it's connected."

East Croydon station closed. Friend of a colleague reports UXB there. Wellesley Road closed, police all over the place. We're not allowed out of our building (opposite the Home Office.)

It may of course just be a scare. I imagine there's going to be a lot of those for a while...

Just heard a report of an explosion in Croydon near the HSBC building by East Croydon Station.

There's a lot of immigration and Home Office offices in Croydon, which may be connected.

I work opposite the Home Office and haven't heard anything -- the street (Wellesley Road) is cordoned off, but that's all as far as I can see.

Just hearsay thus far, but from people who work near there.

As far as I know from a lady who's at the home office in Croydon (she's a manager there) there's a suspicious package, but no uncontrolled explosion. That came through in an email at 12:47 to her son who is on IRC now - she wanted to let us know the reports are misleading at the moment.
