Bought Hnefatafl, Lost Cities and Puerto Rico expansion. Dropped off poster & flyers for http://www.londongamelist.info/ . Bloke behind the counter agrees that Hive is a fine game. I left rapidly to avoid being overly tempted by the 3D special edition Catan + K&C (£275).

Playin' Games are looking for staff, BTW.

Spent much of the afternoon in the Apple store watching presentations while reconfiguring my websites; their wireless network was a bit shafted though, possibly due to the muppets using it for streaming video.

I came this close (--> <--) to ordering Hive a couple of weeks back. Anything further to add to your one-liner precis?

Erm, fairly abstract strategic game; the imagery of the pieces is quite effective as they move but you can't play it with an arachnophobic; rules are really simple (and therefore trivial to learn) but the strategy promises to be able to develop quite deeply. It has a promising combination of really quick moves and longer "erm..." moments.

Thank you, sir. It sounds like it has characteristics similiar to Abalone. I may need to pick myself up a copy

Damn, no retail experience. But I've been gaming for 20 years - wonder if that would help ... doubt it, somehow ...

The special version is ever so nice though. I saw it just before Christmas, and I petted it a bit before leaving.

Pretty thing.
