My turn... Feb. 26th, 2006 07:02 pm
... to start packing. Much of it seems to involve getting rid of junk, deciding what I need to give away or sell (Some stuff here) and generally de-clutter my life. As such I spent a fair bit of last night going through my files and disposing of stuff that was no longer relevant; this involved shredding a lot of stuff as it's amazing how many pieces of paper you can collect over 10 years with your bank details on it (yes I've had the same account for 10 years).

I suspect I'll get rid of my video tapes and just stick with DVDs, which means the VCR will be for sale ded cheep. Not sure what to do with my bikes; I suspect my parents may be able to store them. I should also get rid of one of the older PCs; over time I'll move to macs and flatscreens. And then there's the stack of old HDDs and cables... Oh, and tradgoth stuff I never wear. Gods I'm a magpie.

The main thing I think I need right now is boxes, but I've got some sources.

Tomorrow I go flathunting in Brixton, and need to find somewhere PDQ. Gonna be cold and wet though :/

If the first two Babylon 5 videos are up for grabs, I'll pay good money. I lent my copies out and never got them back, and I really don't want to pay for the whole of season 1 on DVD just to get four episodes...

Tenner the pair ok? How should I send them in your direction?

By all means. Either post them, or I might be able to come round in the car one evening if it's not too much of an imposition (it'd probably be cheaper, quicker and safer given the post round north London)?

It's a good think I don't live there, or I'd be jumping up and down saying, "Videotapes! Me!" Of course, I still have, er, 6' x 3' of vinyl in my house ...

And a sad thing to think of you getting rid of The Princess Bride ...

That's K's video, IIRC - doesn't appear to still be here.

Excellent! It's such a cute movie, the idea of it going unloved pained me, no matter which format it was on.

I hate clearing things out. Gotta be done, though.
Before adelpha and I moved in together, I was renting a room about 7'by 12'. It was sort of like a corridor with a window. I threw away about 10 bin liners full of Old Stuff, and still had more things than I thought could possibly fit in such a space...

Now that could be rather useful...

If when you move you want rid of any bits of furniture (for example the little unpainted end-table next to the sofa, or folding chairs), let me know and I'll take them off your hands. I'm going for a quite modern, clean, light wood look in the new place so those would work well.
