Just *how* long have we been being told that house prices can't continue to rise?

When I'm feeling unselfish, naturally I would like house prices to crash so that my friends who are renting can afford somewhere decent.

When I'm feeling selfish, or protective of my family, naturally I would like them to continue to defy gravity so that we can build more positive equity in our own place.
