This leaves one gap in my mini-rack... any suggestions on how to fill it?

My childish side says Labyrinth :) it has the thin white duke in it :) Cat's and dogs is a bit biased towards the wrong side for you I think...

Serious side says La Haine, or Boys Don't Cry.

I'm not funny or romantic - I'll leave those to someone else :) Do try to locate Ordinary Decent Criminal at some point though - It's wonderful.

La Haine is a fine, if depressing, film; I remember first watching it when in secondary school doing a topic in French class on childhood and adolescence. Gritty realism.
I'd give honourable mention to another French film, City of Lost Children, too. Magic realism. Or surrealism, depending how you want to look at it.

I hate to be horribly predictable here, but I'm going to nominate my favourite film, "The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover", and give extra mentions to The Princess Bride and Edge of Darkness.

Hooray for you being predictable - meant I didn't have to do the slushy thing and mention the Princess Bride. Fine film. :)
